The present tense of the verb in the imperative denotes a “continuous or repeated” action so that the meaning is “keep on being filled,” or “be constantly filled.”10 Thus is expressed the constant duty and obligation of the believer and thus is emphasized the contrast between the once-for-all nature of the Spirit’s work in baptizing, and the continuous and oft-recurring nature of His work in filling.
